iStudio Publisher gives you a choice of measurement units from millimeters, inches, inches (decimal) or points. We will add support for Picas and Ciceros if enough users request it.
The measurement units default setting is determined by your locale setting (US or Metric). You can override the default setting by using the pull-down list located on the main document window at the intersection of the horizontal and vertical rulers.
NOTE: This pull-down list does not change the measurement units on the Page Setup dialog. To change the Page Setup dialog units from inches to cm, or vice-versa, you will need to change your locale setting from US to Metric. Depending on which version of macOS you are using, you can navigate to this setting via one of these macOS menu options:
> Systems Preferences > Language & Region > Advanced > General
> Systems Preferences > Language & Text > Region
> Systems Preferences > Language & Text > Formats
...and set the Measurement units pop-up list to US or Metric.
Units are set application-wide. Changing the units on one view changes them on all views.
For millimeters and points, the Inspector controls allow settings to one decimal place of resolution and the stepper controls work in whole units (1mm, 1pt). For inches, the controls allow settings to three decimal places, allowing exact entry of 1/8" (0.125) and the steppers work in increments of 1/8". For inches (decimal), the controls allow settings to three decimal places and the steppers work in increments of 1/10".
NOTE: Certain Inspector controls always work in points as it is more natural and in context, such as paragraph spacing, font size, and line stroke width.
